LifeLines…

Zechariah 10:1 Pray for rain in the time of rain…. These words came into my spirit one morning – seemingly from no where. I’ve learned that even when it seems like no where – that it is from somewhere – and that it is usually from God! My first thought, that it was from nowhere was based on the fact that I didn’t know the scripture location – I had not recently read it or mediated on it – and I had not heard it preached. Yet I knew it was scripture and I began my search to find out its’ address and why God was sending me this message.

Finally I found its’ address – Zechariah 10:1- and with it a few more words – “Pray for rain in the time of the latter rain!” Having found that it was a familiar term – the former and the latter rain are familiar terms to “church-goers”, even if you don’t know what they are really referring to, I mean we often used to sing, “Send down the rain, send the rain, send down the latter rain! We need the rain, we need the rain! We need the latter rain!”

For the farmer, rain is essential for good crops. Running references and looking at different versions indicate that the rains referred to in Zechariah 10:1 were the spring rains. The prophet was declaring that the people should pray for rain in the time of the spring rainy season – why pray for something when the season dictates that it should happen anyway? This is the eternal struggle that man faces – the quandary about what to pray for and when. We believe that it is time for something, but oftentimes the enemy stops us from (as the old folks used to say) praying through!

God spoke to me to “pray for rain, in the time of rain!” I believe this is the time of blessings for the people of God – I believe that this is a new season for me personally – but waiting for it to unfold without prayer, is like a farmer planting seeds for his crop, with no rain!

Beloved – God wants us to know that there is no shortage in His kingdom! This is our finest hour – if we can believe – for we will cease to depend upon ourselves and the world systems (such as “for everything else there is MasterCard!) we have sold ourselves to. Systems are failing – the news is grim – there is no rain – and yet in the still, quiet hours of the morning, I heard my Father say – “Pray for rain – in the time of rain!” – I choose to believe Him – I choose to pray – and get my umbrella!

God Bless You,
Maria

  1. Hi Alice,
Thank you for these words of wisdom. The Word in Proverbs tells us to get wisdom and get understanding. I believe that actualizing understandings is an indicator of wisdom, and that is what you have done with this website. You understand a great deal about God’s Word, and you are now sharing (wisdom).
