He’s Been Faithful! All of us have hopes, dreams, and expectations for the new year. None of us know for sure how things will turn out, but we live in hope that things will go as we desire. This winter, more than most, has turned my attention to having a renewed faith coupled with a strong desire to be like the Proverbs 31 woman who, “Is like a merchant ship, she brings her food from afar…she is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She watches for bargains…she extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household because all of them have warm clothes.”NLT
And yet, so far this year I have suffered from an injury which made it impossible for me to do anything unless somebody helped me – no driving to the store, little and sometimes no mobility without assistance. Already into the 20th day of the month – my plans have gone crazy!
How glad I am to bring to remembrance one of my favorite scriptures, GOD IS A VERY PRESENT HELP IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE!
And of course my heart always returns to my favorite song in all the world, written by Grammy Award winning songwriter Carol Cymbala of the Brooklyn Tabernacle and made popular by singer, Damaris Carbaugh. Look at the words:
In my moments of fear, through every pain, every fear,
There’s a God, who’s been faithful to me.

Still in love, He’s proved faithful to me.
Every word He’s promised is true,
What I thought was impossible, I’ve seen my God do…

This song has stirred my heart to remembrance on more than one occasion that GOD IS FAITHFUL, EVEN WHEN WE ARE FAITHLESS! How wonderful that the God who made us, who knows our fragile frame, has lovingly given us:
The promises inherent in His Word (Ps 71:22)
The power of overcoming testimonites that “make wise the simple (Ps 19:7)
The comfort of the Holy Spirit that keeps our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (2 Th 2:17)
and a brand new day filled with new mercies (and new opportunities) each day of every year.
