The Lord's Day!

“This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

Another Sunday, another opportunity to go into the house of the Lord and fellowship with the saints of the most high God. That may be an “old school” phrase – but it’s a “need” that we need right now more than ever. We are living in the fulfillment of this prophecy from Amos 8:11 (MSG)

“Oh yes, Judgment Day is coming!”
These are the words of my Master God.
“I’ll send a famine through the whole country.
It won’t be food or water that’s lacking, but my Word.
People will drift from one end of the country to the other,
roam to the north, wander to the east.
They’ll go anywhere, listen to anyone,
hoping to hear God’s Word—but they won’t hear it.”

In fact there is such depravity sweeping across our nation that it’s going to get easier and easier to get up on a Sunday morning and run to the house of the Lord! We will know and long for our hearts to experience the presence of the Lord and remember:

“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” Lamentations 3:23-26 (KJV)

God will glory in everything – even when the heathen rages and the people of the earth turn away. God’s compassions do not fail for His people and if we seek Him , and both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord we will find it.

There is a favorite worship song of mine that goes:

“Thy name is like honey to my lips, thy spirit like water to my soul, thy word is a lamp unto my feet – Jesus I love you.”

This refrain of a popular worship song. is so much more than the lyrics of a song – it is also God’s love speaking to our hearts. For when we fall in love with Jesus, we fall in love with His Word – and just as we have to be in the presence of those we love – it is life and breath to us – so it is with the spirit of God – it is water to our soul – and the Word indeed is a lamp unto our feet and the saints of God, well think about this as you get ready for church:

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1 (KJV)

Have a wonderfully blessed Lord’s Day!
Maria

Thanks you for allowing the Lord to use you in such a powerful way, I can’t wait to read the daily message that the Lord has laid upon your heart to write.
