Favor is Conditional

Moses immediately threw himself to the ground and worshiped. And he said, “O Lord, if it is true that I have found favor with you, then please travel with us. Yes, this is a stubborn and rebellious people, but please forgive our iniquity and our sins. Claim us as your own special possession.”
The Lord replied, “Listen, I am making a covenant with you in the presence of all your people. I will perform miracles that have never been performed anywhere in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people around you will see the power of the Lord—the awesome power I will display for you. But listen carefully to everything I command you today. Then I will go ahead of you and drive out the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. Exodus 34: 8-11 (NLT) read more...

Favor in High Places!

When I was a young Christian (who was also young), i spent a lot of time worrying about the tribulation period and whether or not Christians would go through it. When I got saved there was much talk about this generation seeing the coming of the Lord! The rapture, the tribulation period, who would go and who wouldn’t go took up many a Christian’s conversation in the early seventies. Always being one to take it to another level – I would fantasize about how things would happen, and then ask God to help me with my fears, because I didn’t see how I would live through the things I envisioned. For it made sense to me that if Christians were persecuted in the beginning of the Church Age – why would they get off scot free at the end of the age – why would Christians be beheaded for calling themselves Christians at one point – but then we who live in this generation would just float on away with no persecution. For me that did not seem like justice and I couldn’t buy it, (even though I desperately hoped it was true!). read more...

God's Favor!

Our family gets together for family prayer – a time to bring our individual and collective needs before the Lord – asking for His direction and His blessings on that direction. This year, the word came forth that God was going to grant unprecedented favor to those who would receive it; this word was so contrary to the news reports – but God does not consult the news report – He has a better view of our affairs. read more...

Sunday, March 8, 2009 – The Lord's Day!

This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.
But those who wish to boast
should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the Lord, have spoken! Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT) read more...

Our Eyes Are Upon Thee

“And now it’s happened: men from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir have shown up. You didn’t let Israel touch them when we got here at first—we detoured around them and didn’t lay a hand on them. And now they’ve come to kick us out of the country you gave us. O dear God, won’t you take care of them? We’re helpless before this vandal horde ready to attack us. We don’t know what to do; we’re looking to you.” 2 Chronicles 20:10-12 (MSG) read more...

My Early Morning Lesson!

Our theme this week is on prayer. The past couple of days we have looked at the prayer of Solomon who did not depend on the lineage from his father David to govern as king, “His eyes were on God,” and he recognized that if God would hear his cry and that of his people that his nation would be blessed. What was true for Solomon, is just as true for us today. I woke up early this morning and I heard so clear the passage from Psalm 63:1: read more...

A Wise Man's Prayer!

“Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the entire community of Israel, and he lifted his hands in prayer…He stood on the platform, and then he knelt in front of the entire community of Israel and lifted his hands toward heaven. He prayed,
“O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven and earth. You keep your covenant and show unfailing love to all who walk before you in wholehearted devotion. You have kept your promise to your servant David, my father. You made that promise with your own mouth, and with your own hands you have fulfilled it today.
“And now, O Lord, God of Israel, carry out the additional promise you made to your servant David, my father. For you said to him, ‘If your descendants guard their behavior and faithfully follow my Law as you have done, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’ Now, O Lord, God of Israel, fulfill this promise to your servant David.
But will God really live on earth among people? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built! Nevertheless, listen to my prayer and my plea, O Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is making to you. May you watch over this Temple day and night, this place where you have said you would put your name. May you always hear the prayers I make toward this place. May you hear the humble and earnest requests from me and your people Israel when we pray toward this place. Yes, hear us from heaven where you live, and when you hear, forgive.” 2Chronicles 6: 12-20 (NLT) read more...

Give Them One More Year…

“Then he told them a story: “A man had an apple tree planted in his front yard. He came to it expecting to find apples, but there weren’t any. He said to his gardener, ‘What’s going on here? For three years now I’ve come to this tree expecting apples and not one apple have I found. Chop it down! Why waste good ground with it any longer?’
The gardener said, ‘Let’s give it another year. I’ll dig around it and fertilize, and maybe it will produce next year; if it doesn’t, then chop it down.’” Luke 13: 6-9 (MSG) read more...
