To Cast All My Care Upon Him!
“Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.” 1 Peter 5: 8-11 (MSG)
My early days as a Christian were filled with anxiety. It was really hard for me to grab ahold of faith – and even harder to believe that God would get me out of some of the problems I faced – problems that many times I had created. I was quick to believe that “what you sow you will reap,” but I was not so quick to believe, “that His mercies were new every morning.”
So I was up and down – a somber soul – neither living in victory or the joy that is a by-product of the believer. Oh there would be times when the spirit of God would fill me to overflowing and I would go through tremendous periods of jubilance! But let some problem appear that I COULDN’T HANDLE – and darkness would again begin to creep into my life.
I can’t go through all the ways God worked with me – (one reason that I never give up on people coming through into this glorious salvation is that God was so patient with me) but I can share that it was a time of great failure that I learned that God really did care and I could cast ALL OF MY BURDENS on Him – for He who cared for me,
“…hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” Psalm 103:10 (KJV)
And I read “that if he would regard iniquity – who would stand?” (vs 10)
In a time when all hope of me living this Christian life in my own strength was lost – God showed me His redeeming love and care – even as the psalmist declared:
Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.” Psalm 103: 2-15 (NIV)
I took Him at His Word and got set free!
God Bless You,
Maria

Good word. Very up lifting and very true. God is REALLY GOOD if we could just believe.
This is just blessing my soul. It is so much easier to more remember my mess ups, than to remember His tender mercies that are extended towards me. I needed to hear this … this morning! Thank you for your upbeat flavor, and your sensitivity to His voice.
