Dare to Touch God's Face!

I wish I could say that this thought I’m going to share with you today was original, but it isn’t. I was listening to the radio and one of the radio preachers, I believe it was Ron Hutchcraft said it and it resonated with me to the point that I want to share it with you.

The preacher was describing how a baby gets to know you – how when they want to show you affection, they reach for your face. My thoughts immediately went to my little grandbaby Jael. This is exactly what she does! From the very beginning of her coordinating her little body she would reach for and caress her family’s face – and when she reallly wants to show affection, she will grab your face and put her face to yours and kiss you. I can’t express the joy that brings to me – a baby does not try to win brownie points – they like who they like and if they want to express themselves with you, they will – and if they don’t – it’s for sure they won’t!

The preacher then went out to describe how God must feel when we “touch His face.” The scripture reference was 2 Chronicles 7:14 – and I decided that of the versions I usually read – this is the one that speaks this thought clearly to me:

“If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”

When I read this I again thought of my little Jael – for as little as she is, (she’s not quite eight months old) – when she wants to grab your face – she exerts all of her strength to reach for it -and just let her see her Mother – the delightful joy radiates all over her face -she craves her mother’s smile – and is exuberant over her mother’s touch!

I believe our Father God is just this way – when we, His children, reach up to be near Him. When we begin to crave His presence and press in, when we reach for just a touch of His face! How He must rejoice when we shout praises to Him! When we glorify and magnify His name! How much more when we look into His face and see the finished work of Calvary and realize that our sins are forgiven – we are faultless before Him and we can walk uncondemned throughout the world in liberty and freedom – a brand new creation – one who only knows the voice of their Father – and a stranger they will never again follow.

As that preacher began to share a simple thought, my heart got busy and I said I have to capture that thought – I have to speak to it – and more than that I have let my Daddy know by touching His face just how much I love Him!

God Bless You,
Maria
