A Place of Surrender by Deborah Anthony

What does a place of total surrender to God look like well I can say it has many different phases depending on your personal walk with the Lord. It was a place I thought I never would see, a place I thought impossible. First of all, I never thought I would have the courage to make such a powerful statement in my lifetime, having control has always been important to me. How many of us sing the song, “I surrender all?” Well if you are anything like me I sang it over and over again not really understanding what it meant. The word “all means “whole” – every piece – not a portion of – but all of you.

As I reflect on all my eyes have seen over the past 31 years, I say WOW God, no one could have told me that my life would be like it is now. Having a wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children, I still ask God how he could love me so much? We have had some challenges over the last 3 years which have caused me to evaluate who I am and who God called me to be, and I can honestly say this journey has not been easy. So many times I wanted to quit, the journey was long, and caused me to ask more than once, “is it really worth it?”

How do you know that your life is headed toward total surrender? When you learn to depend on God for every day, even for the next minute of your life. It’s total dependency on what he wants for you vs. what you want for yourself. On my journey God has reassured me that He knows my next move and He has my future in the palm of His hand. The journey I am on is not over, it has barely begun, but I know that the struggles of the past are no longer and God has given me strength to endure the challenges that will come my way.

So I encourage you to have an expectancy of God to receive the strength to Walk Out your place of total surrender and the power of God to continue to blow His wind of grace in your life.

  1. This word is to you and for you, but it is also the Father’s cry for all of us. Thank you for sharing – it is powerful!

  2. This is so good. We are all in some portion of this life of surrender. It is not a destination but a day by day — sometimes hour by hour — walk with Him. His timetable for us does not ever seem to match our own, but His ways are not our ways and His thoughts not our thoughts. His are much greater and higher. Can’t wait to see all that He has prepared for those who love Him — that’s YOU!!!! Love you – Beth

  3. Thank you for that word. I think we brush over the word “surrender”. We don’t take the time to really lelt go of ourselves and give God the reins to our lives. I believe that we will always be surrendering to Him. Each day we let go of our agenda and seek His. Thank you for surrendering your gifts and talents to the Lord. Truly the best is yet to come for you.

    God Bless You!
