It's Time to Stop Talking!

One of our contributors to HeartLife gave a response to yesterday’s post which I want to draw attention to.

At our church we have launched a SOS (Save Our Seed). We are in prayer and fasting for this generation. As a matter of fact, we are on a 3 day fast until Thursday for our children. We have the mandate to pray and intercede. The need is great.

Of course I got the usual joy that someone had responded to the post – (it’s always good to know that someone is feeling what I’m writing about), but feeling quickly turned to a more solemn mood – in fact I heard the words, “Call for a Solemn Assembly” I didn’t know exactly where the passage was, but I knew what that meant. The Holy Spirit was trying to get my attention – and I confess I pushed it back, out of my mind and got on with my day.

Monday is the day that G.I.F.T.S. meets (Girls Interceding For the Season) and even though we are doing a book study – we had a tremendous time of prayer. WE all left encouraged, built-up, and rejoicing for the visitation of the Holy Spirit – because He came in our presence with power! The last thing I said was to pray how we as a group could pull our resources together to bless those that were hurting during this holiday season.

Later on, I heard the words again, “Call for a Solemn Assembly” – again the words got pushed back with the many interventions that come into my day. But I could not retire for the night without addressing it – for I know that God wants our heart’s cry for our children to be more than mere words – He wants the body to do as they are doing at Sandra’s church – to go into prayer and fasting for this generation – if we see the need, if we hear the cry, then we must follow biblical admonition to do it the bible way!

Joel 2:15 says:

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.”

We’re blowing the trumpet – and appealing to you our HeartLife audience – to set aside some time, and pray and fast for our children – it would be so great if on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 – on Veteran’s Day – when the children in most schools are out of school – if we could collectively cover them in prayer – and if the Lord speaks to you of fasting –

I know God hears and answers prayer – even with two or three – how much more if we all with one mind and one heart – declare war on the adversary that seeks to destroy our children before their time. If we with one voice would cry to the God of our salvation that:

* angels keep watch over our city for the safety of our children
* that God give each of us a plan where we as one could help at least one child to
come to know Jesus
* that each of us would take just a few minutes each day to pray for a real revival
to draw those that our lost without God to a God consciousness that will lead them
to salvation
* to cover all children and youth leaders in prayer for the work they do each week.

Could this be a Kairos moment?

  1. I’m in! We have coporate fast each Wednesday as well as corporate prayer on Tuesday evening at Christ Unity, so I’ll include the youth of Chicago in my prayer tonight and tomorrow!
