This week we’ve been talking about the world that our children and youth have to face. If you make a steady diet of the six o’clock news you can feel as if things are pretty hopeless – where do you start? How can you reach so many young people that appear to have given up hope on a normal life and have made the streets and gang land violence their way of life?
Once again we turn to God’s word – for there is nothing that can occur that God has not already addressed – and He has given us answers to any problem that we might be facing. One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 40:27-29
27-31Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
There are people who are fighting back – who have decided that they are not accepting the label that this is a “lost generation” – I want to be one of that number. WE know the first thing we can do is pray – then after that pray some more – but I know and so do you, that in your prayer time – as you pray for the deliverance of our young people that God is going to give you a plan – something you can do to win at least one young person to the kingdom. There is hope and there is help in our God – we know the gravity of the situation, but we also know the power of our God! It is time to rise up as an army that will not accept defeat – it is indeed our Kairos moment!

I am on the wall! love you Ma have a safe trip!
Thanks Ma,
I am seeing God open doors for us to have more direct influence in the lives of our youth in South Bend. Last night, part of my message came from Joshua 4 where men gathered stones as a memorial of God’s miraculous power taking the Children of Israel across the Jordan River. The stones were set up so that when the children asked about them, the adults could tell the story of what God had done.
We need to do the same for our children. We need to find memorable ways to pass our faith to this next generation. The remarkable thing about the stones is found in verse 9 which says, “and they are there to this day.” The godly things we give our children will last. They will stand the test of time. Even when we think they don’t get it, aren’t listening or don’t care, the “stones” will still remain. The time is now (KAIROS) to invest in our youth. It will not be a futile effort. When we train them up in the way they should go, when they get old they will not depart from it. Blessings
