A Clarion Call!

In medieval days when the sound of the clarion was made, people took note. I am sending forth a clarion call today. I am asking you, our HeartLife readers to blow the trumpet in Zion and sound the alarm. After talking to one of my friends last night, who is a teacher, like myself, I found out one more reason that we need intercessors who will actively stand on the wall! After nearly 33 years of teaching she is being investigated on the claims of a student for kicking him! This situation, like so many that I hear is becoming far too common in our schools. Students are lashing out at teachers, both in the form of verbal accusations and actual physical abuse! Not only are students attacking each other, they are attacking teachers as well! In my lifetime, when I first began teaching in 1968, all I had to do was frown at a student, and I usually got the response I needed.

The Bible speaks of this time:

“1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.”2 Timothy 3:1-3 (NLT)

Believe me with the reports that I hear daily, this is true in far too many of our schools. I am asking all of you intercessors to pray specifically for my friend that she will be vindicated, and specifically for all the teachers that they will not only be safe in the schools, but treated with the respect that their craft deserves. I am also asking that we pray for parents that their eyes and hearts would become open and they would realize that defending a disobedient child only aides them in a life of rebellion and lawlessness. Finally, I am asking that you pray for our children, who are lost in a counter culture war that seeks to rob them of all morality and values. I hear so many Christians say that the laws of our nation are just symptomatic of the times and there is nothing that can be done. Sadly they don’t see a correlation in the acceptance of things that God declares sin with the pervasive spirit of rebellion that is flooding our country. But I am not even asking that you take my word for it, seek God – violence usually has no target – when one is under attack, we are all under attack! I am going to two schools today to visit student teachers – I walk those same halls that the teachers walk – that the students walk – who fall victim to crime –

A clarion call, an earnest plea – intercessors – our teachers need you, our students need you – together we can make a difference!

Kairos,
Maria

  1. Amen my sister I agree with you in prayer for this situation to be resolved and for your friend to be vindicated. Where have all the parents and I do emphasize parents with a “s” gone. The chaos in our schools is a reflection of chaos in our homes which is a reflection of a poverty of values in the homes. Our foreparents suffered much more economic poverty and difficulty than we ever have but they were rich in the things that counted, they held onto their faith in God, their love of their familyand Godly standards.
