Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the Newborn King!

Our title comes from a familiar Christmas song – a message that speaks of this day – the day we acknowledge that indeed that heaven made announcement that the King was born! Not just an ordinary king – born of a royal family – this king was begotten of God Himself! God came to earth robed in human flesh, making entry as every other human, yet marked with the character of divinity! There was no regular posting of a nation’s colors, nor was there a special trumpet sound – rather Heaven itself became ablaze with angels who issued the proclamation and signs and wonders went across the land straight from heaven’s court.

Today we are also living in an age where the spirit of King Herod resides in the hearts of men and women, even boys and girls. They don’t want to pay homage to the king even in a simple greeting – so the words Merry Christmas are erased – and replaced with words like Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays! To make mention of Christmas is said to offend some – and yet if it were the birthday of any great leader and mention was made of that person’s name – would there be offense – no, if it is their birthday -it’s their birthday – it’s a fact!

And it is a fact – that Jesus the Christ was born – it is a fact that He lived a life that did such mighty works that people were afraid of Him, and wanted to kill Him. It is a fact that eleven of the twelve that He taught and mentored, joined with one, born out of season (the Apostle Paul) and turned the known world upside down! It is a fact that men and women, boys and girls were willing to be martyred because they would not deny this Christ. It is a fact that even the hearts of earthly kings took note of this King and nations embraced His royalty! It is a fact that all over the world, the gospel has changed the hearts and lives of those who believed the simple message of John 3:16. It is a fact that even today over two thousand years later,the Bible, the book that tells His story, is still on the best-seller list.

It is a fact that Christ came, that He lived, that He died, and by many witnesses, that He rose from the dead to let the world know that He would be coming back again to take His church home to live with Him forever and ever! It is a fact that one day i finally tore down every objection I had and with a sincere heart I asked God if what was said about this Jesus was true, would He let me know. God did let me know, and did one better, He introduced me to Him, and it is a fact, my life has never been the same!

Thank you God for sending your Son to change my life – I celebrate Him this day – Glory to the newborn King!
