For nearly a year now, every day, our list server has sent a notice to our subscribers that there was a message waiting for them on HeartLife. I, myself got it as regularly as I got the other four or five daily posts that I look forward to reading. For the past week, when I open my e-mail – there is no message – it has been disconcerting, particularly as I have tried to unsuccessfully resolve the problem. It also comes at a time when according to reports, those opening the post was down – in spite of subscribers being higher than ever.
Don’t think the thought didn’t come to me, maybe it’s run its course – maybe current conditions are saying you need to do something different. And then I had to wonder, have I heard that thought before…When I heard the Lord speak to me last year, I heard Him say, “That You and Your Children Might Live!” I was to write, not for me, not to determine how many readers there would be, but I was to write, because God said to write!
The enemy of our soul will bring about doubt and discouragement when our plans go astray. It is at that point that we have to remember what God’s word says. As I sought the scripture for an answer I saw several passages that spoke to my heart:
9Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
10Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.Deuteronomy 4:8-10
When God spoke to our heart, He spoke to us prophetically through instructions. That’s God’s way – it doesn’t change with circumstances, it doesn’t change when our plans go astray. Perhaps you too are facing a change in plans today – “think on these things….!”

16-18We weren’t, you know, just wishing on a star when we laid the facts out before you regarding the powerful return of our Master, Jesus Christ. We were there for the preview! We saw it with our own eyes: Jesus resplendent with light from God the Father as the voice of Majestic Glory spoke: “This is my Son, marked by my love, focus of all my delight.” We were there on the holy mountain with him. We heard the voice out of heaven with our very own ears.
19-21We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard—God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word. 2 Peter 1:18-21 (MSG)
