In a message I heard yesterday, I heard the words of the Psalmist as He declared simple words that convey a great truth:
11Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
12The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
13He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.Psalm 115:11-13 (KJV)
At first glance, we might miss this thought, there does not appear to be anything that is earth shattering here. And yet these words convey a message that is of supreme importance. The God of this great universe is mindful of me, He is mindful of you. It does not matter whether we are “small or great” – God is concerned about us. He is concerned about the things that concern us.
Why do we spend time worrying? Why do we become anxious? Why do we feel as if we have no hope? God is concerned and not only concerned, He is mindful! This is not a word we use much today, but if we look a the definition it says:
aware: actively attentive, or deliberately keeping something in mind “was mindful of the difficulties that lay ahead”
It is interesting to me that the sentence used for mindful uses the example of being aware of “the difficulties that lay ahead.” God is actively attentive to our todays and our tomorrows. He is not passive. He is not sitting in a front row seat watching our life play out as a spectator. He is atively mindful, but He needs our permission to be actively involved!
We, that are parents can identify with the painful struggle of watching our children trying to find their way. There comes a time when all that you can say or do means nothing, there are some things they have to figure out for themselves. There are some decisions that you have to back off from – if you want them to grow and mature. There are lessons, some very painful, that they can only learn through experience. And perhaps the most difficult ones to watch are the ones that we know we can help them with, if they would only let us.
How the heart of God must break over and over, as He, who is mindful of His children, watches as we continuously struggle to find our way – a way that could become so clear, if we were to just ask the one who is “actively attentive” to our needs and our desires.
My prayer today – Father God, You who are mindful of me, help me to let you be actively involved in my life.
God Bless You,
Maria
