Today we just want to take a moment and just thank this great God that we serve for all that He is, all that He does, all that He promises, all that He represents. The preacher said the other day – can you think about the attributes of God. I began to write down some of the attributes that I have become acquainted with:
God is Love, God is Peace, God is a Savior, God is a Comforter, God is Righteousness, God is Holiness, God is Truth, God is Justice, God is a Provider, God is a Deliverer, God is a Friend, God is my Lord, God is a Way-Maker, God is a Problem-Solver, God is a Very Present Help in Time of Trouble; God is More Than Enough, God is a Healer, God is Omnipresent, God is from Eternity Past until Eternity Present; God is Power, God is Strength, God is Light (and in Him is no darkness at all); God is the Living Bread; God is the Living Water; God is a Strong Tower (the Righteous Run in and are Safe); God is the Living Word, God is my Everything!
I could go on and on – but I think you get the point – when you start to think of all God is to you, than you realize once more and again that you cannot live without His presence in your life. Sometimes in the church arena we hear the phrase, “Favor is better than life!” and that is true, for without His favor, without His loving kindness to us – there is no life – we wander around looking for who we are, trying to figure out what we are doing – and how we can do it with the little we possess.
When we let God become GOD in our life – He pulls back the veil and we can see clearly who we are and WHOSE WE ARE! We can see that “He has been there all the time, waiting patiently in line,” waiting for us to “let Him bless us” (no we can’t let that go yet). God wants to bless us? We are the apple of His eye! We’re His favorite child! We’re the crown of His creation! Rehearse who He is to you, think of His goodness to you, think of His mercy, think of His favor in your life :
4-5Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! …
6-7Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
8-9Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. Phil 4:4-9 (MSG)

Maria
