Pleasant Places is My Address!

I heard the scripture this morning that the psalmist declared, “my lines are drawn in plesant places.” As I reflected on this I realized that the truth in this statement. If someone would ask me to describe my address, I would say, “Pleasant Place, USA.”
Going to the scripture reference, I see that the psalmist was saying so much more:
Psalm 16:5-7 (Amplified Bible)
5The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot.
6The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.
7I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons. read more...

Adonay – Part II!

I am not a scholar – most certainly not of languages, but my understanding of the Hebrew term Adonay refering to God is Lord ,denotes servanthood by those who refer to Him as Lord. If we were to hear someone say, “Yes, my Lord” – without knowing the people or the circumstances, most of us would come to the conclusion that the person replying is speaking to one in authority over them. read more...

Adonay!

Ringing inmy spirit today is the Hebrew word, Adonay, meaning God is Lord! it is so easy to say that God is Lord in our life, only to compartmentalize that thought like we do most of our relationships. Need clarity on that thought? How many of us vow on our wedding days to give reverence and respect to our mates – to always consider the husband as head of the house, or for the husband to love and cherish the wife, vowing to be faithful and considerate, loving and understanding. When we give these words, we mean them, but then “that thing” happens and we make exceptions to our own rule! We also are that way with God, we vow to let Him be Lord of our life – “in all our ways to acknowledge Him” – and allow Him to direct our paths. And then we get disappointed – we didn’t get “that thing” we prayed for – or we give and give, “good measure, shaken down, and running over” – and we lose our job and then our house and then… read more...

When God Answers Prayer!

I’m not a betting person, but I would give a good guess that there are plenty of you reading this, that at one time or another are suprised when God answers prayers! We pray and we petition, we beg and we plead, we fall over backwards trying to repent, trying to fast, trying to do whatever it takes to move God’s hand. And then, all of a sudden, we breathe a simple prayer, and bless God – the prayer is answered before we have a good chance to get it out! read more...

Yes, I'll Take This Dance!

Today I witnessed two celebratory milestones – one a wedding – and the second an eighth grade graduation. Both were people I loved, and that always doubles the joy – but as I witnessed these great occasions, I also had to realize once more and again just how much God intervenes in the affairs of men – that He really does have a plan for our lives. read more...

Now Unto Him…

24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.Jude 24-25 (KJV)

The Fruit of Winter, New Life!

I have not forgotten the line from one of my favorite movies, “A Love Affair to Remember” when Deborah Kerr says that “winter can be cold to those who have no one to love” – or words to that effect. Even if it is a classic Hollywood line – there is truth there. winter can seem colder, spring can produce more rain, summer can be hotter, and there is no appreciation for the breauty of fall when your heart is barren. read more...
