Imagine this- We Are the Hope of Glory!

This week we have talked about the glory of God! There are many elements that deserve further study, but the greatest realization of God’s glory comes from experiencing it for yourself! And the good news is we can all experience God’s glory. In fact, even better we can carry God’s glory! People can tell us this, we can read it in the Word of God, but when we really receive the revelation of this truth, and when God, by His grace, allows us to usher in His glory – there is nothing to be compared – it makes everything worth while.

In Colossians 1:25-27 we read the words of the Apostle Paul:

25I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. 27To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

How can we fathom this mystery, that the glory so sought for in the Old Testament – this glory God wants to impart in us through Christ Jesus! I think of how common many of us as Christians have become, how relaxed we are in the observance our faith. Ii don’t believe this has been an intentional act. I believe in an effort to be “real” – to be “accepted” – not to be labeled as someone wierd – we have lost the geatest element of all – the ability to carry the “glory of God!”

I have watched in times past the program, Touched by An Angel” – and before the end of the show one of the show’s angels always let the person they are working with see them in an aura of shining light – Hollywood’s way of trying to depict the glory. Please let this be a disclaimer for anything that Touched by An Angel portrays – the theology behind their show is not what I am advocating. But what is interesting to me, is that, before the finale, it always is necessary to illuminate the character with the light to let the person know that they are an angel.

Just thinking about this for a minute – do we need “special effects” to come upon us for others to know that we belong to Jesus? Or do we walk with enough of God’s glory that everyone we come in contact, believer or not, is aware that there is a difference in the way we carry ourselves? And even more importantly when it is time to represent the power and authority of the King we serve as ambassadors for – are we carrying the magnificent, majestic, all-powerful, life-changing, healing, delivering glory of God?

Enough said, Selah!
