Paul Was An Interesting Teacher!

I am sure that everyone of you who are reading this post today have experienced those times in church where the pastor/teacher/leader was all over the place and you had to think more thanĀ a moment to figure out where he was coming from. I think the fifth chapter of 1 Timothy is kind of like that. Paul starts off talking about one thing and throws a few more things in as a “by the way.” Before we become critical of the messenger, or throw the message out because of what seems like a little rambling, we need to dissect it, to determine if there are some truths that need to be ascertained – even in the midst of … read more...

“Georgia” – On His Mind!

When I read the fifth chapter of 1 Timothy and was tryng to think of a title for today’s post, all I could hear was the song by Ray Charles, “Georgia On My Mind.” It is so clear that the Apostle Paul had given more than a little thought as to what to do with women, particularly single women of all ages! read more...

The Deception of the Enemy; the Wisdom of God! Part II

Yesterday we began a look at 1 Timothy 4 (MSG) which spoke to us of the truth the Apostle Paul was trying to impart to his son in the gospel, Timothy. He knew the kinds of things Timothy was being confronted by and he wanted him to be aware of the tricks of the enemy and to impart to him wise counsel that would keep him strong, healthy, and growing amidst these tricks. read more...

Leadership in the Church – Prerequisites!

Recent controversies in the news show clearly that leaders who are caught in compromising moral situations don’t feel as if they should be relieved of their duties, because after all, “everyone is doing it!” read more...

What Does the Book Say?

Before I became a Christian, I was wandering around aimlessly, confusion was my natural state. One of the great things about our Father God is that He is always up front concerning His expectations. He does not leave us in the dark, He makes things plain and simple – I like that. Although thereĀ  have still been times of confusion, they were not authored by God – in fact I soon began to understand that when I became crossed between two opinions, it was for sure, one of them was not from God. read more...

Did God Say? Part III

I saw one of the best illustrations of what it means to believe God, not from a well-known preacher, but from a well-known entertainer. Steve Harvey recently hosted TBN’s Praise the Lord, and gave one of the best messages on faith that I had ever heard, bar none. I’m not going to try to reproduce it here, but I do want to acknowledge that messages that reach and encourage the heart come from all kinds of people and places, often when you least expect it and the message to me resounds again – always listen, and never, ever decide how God is going to speak, or who He is going to use. read more...
